Role Overview:
P3+Uplift’s client, a prominent player within the finance/insurance sector, is looking for a STAT Financial Reporting & Accounting Manager. In this role, you’ll ensure timely and accurate statutory reporting, enhance reporting processes, and oversee the operational aspects of reinsurance contract settlements. You’ll also lead a team of accounting professionals, collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth reinsurance settlements and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and review of statutory financial reports on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Manage a team of accounting staff, overseeing daily, weekly, and monthly reporting tasks.
- Provide leadership across the employee lifecycle, from selection and retention to ongoing performance and development.
- Analyze statutory account balances as part of quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Prepare/review audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
- Review reconciliations and validate subsidiary reports to ensure accurate statutory reporting.
- Draft/review journal entries, workpapers, and statutory filings.
- Keep up-to-date with new statutory guidance impacting the insurance industry.
- Maintain and enhance statutory reporting and reinsurance processes and controls.
- Support internal audits as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with at least five years in accounting or financial reporting, or a suitable mix of education and experience.
- Experience within the life insurance sector and statutory reporting.
- CPA designation is a must.
- In-depth knowledge of life and annuity insurance products, operations, and the regulatory environment.
- Solid understanding of financial statement accounts, especially around investments and actuarial entries.
- Familiarity with statutory reporting rules, regulatory filings, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong financial analysis and problem-solving abilities, with great attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
